HSC Units 420 and 421Please could someone contribute their view on HSC Units C+G 420 and 421? With regards to what type of work setting/role they would be applicable to? I have come across these units being chosen by residential care home staff. I feel that within the scope and requirements it would be difficult to provide evidence and that they would be more suitable for other settings/roles such as outreach/education type settings. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as to how other see these units and appropriateness. Thank you. |
I am not sure what type of
I am not sure what type of residential setting this is. For example elderly or young disabled might be different although this may be discriminatory.
Promoting leisure activities HSC420 should be okay. A lot of homes will have an activity organiser whose job is to work with clients to promote such opportunities and support client engage. Holistically, leisure is an important aspect of care work.
Promoting employment, training and education is less obvious. However, if they are really doing this then they should be able to provide you with actual examples.
You are right to check carefully. Selecting units that are not part of the everyday work role means evidence is difficult or impossible to collect. There is also a risk with level 4 that the staff do not work at that level and therefore are struggling to select units. However, there is the possibility that they are able to do these units.
