About usTMS: NVQ Support Services was set up in 2000 to provide a reliable source of independent support for NVQs within the health and social care sector. Its aim was to ensure that organisations and individuals who were accessing NVQ could achieve successful outcomes. TMS is a partnership run by Tom Sweeney with the support of his wife Corinne: Both Tom and Corinne are experienced health care professionals. Over the past 12 years Tom has gained considerable experience and success working at all levels within health and social care vocational learning and development. This includes: assessing, internal and external verification, and consultancy. In this time Tom has established a reputation for quality and professionalism and has recently completed a degree in education that focused on competency based assessment. From working in care and education it was apparent that people involved in NVQ often found it very difficult to access information and support that was understandable and reliable. The internet offered TMS an ideal opportunity to challenge this situation and over the years our web sites NVQweb and then AVCare have been continually developed to address this need. Being independent allows TMS to operate across traditional boundaries found within the existing training and education sector. However, it does mean that guidance and support within NVQweb and AVCare does not represent official guidance, for example from awarding bodies or assessment centres. This is a time of considerable change in work based assessment. Standards are improving and many new services are being developed to support the development of a more skilled workforce. Work based assessment is taking place across a much wider context. TMS looks forward to supporting this process and contributing to ensuring that these changes are associated with successful outcomes. Whilst TMS is run as a business, its values reflect a philosophy of sharing and helping others. This reflects Tom & Corinne's desire to run their business in a way that reflects their own personal Christian beliefs. |
